WS Process

All WS technologies offer upflow service and downflow regeneration to optimize performance. The Fluidized Bed (WS) process uses a single chamber with upper and lower nozzle plates that are filled with one type of Lewatit® resin. The space between the nozzle plates is filled with resin and a layer of inert material Lewatit® IN 42. This unit is designed with a small freeboard so that part of the resin bed floats freely during service without permitting reclassification of the fine packed polishing layer at the top during either service or regeneration. This design optimizes resin capacity and resin life through fluidized (Schwebebett) and packed zones.

Other features include:

  • Very low regenerant consumption
  • Flexible system suitable for units of any size
  • Backwashing 1 to 2 times per year in separate backwashing unit
  • High-quality effluent, even during system interruptions
