Bayer's Water Treatment Brochure Highlights Advanced Ion Exchange Techhology

Outlines advantages of packed bed countercurrent technology

PITTSBURGH, March 15, 2000 -- Bayer Corporation, the largest producer of monodispersed resins in the world, introduces its new brochure: Bayer's WS Technologies - Fluidized Service. Downflow Regeneration. The brochure outlines Bayer's fluidized bed process in Ion Exchange Systems, describes its five different fluidized bed systems, and highlights its new line of Monoplus resins - all of which help deliver savings in water and regenerant costs.

The brochure also discusses how, since the early 1960s, Bayer has led the development effort behind modern packed bed countercurrent technology. Bayer's upflow exhaustion/ downflow regeneration concept led to the first patent in this field for WS or fluidized bed process. Three patents followed for the Liftbed, Rinsebed and Multipstep systems. With five systems from which to choose and a complete line of Lewatit® MonoPlus resins, Bayer systems can be customized to meet customers' plant requirements.

"Our customers are realizing the significant productivity and economic benefits of packed bed technology, particularly the advantages that downflow regeneration brings to the process," said Phil Fatula, Technical Manager, Ion Exchange Resins and Water Treatment Chemicals Group. "And, with five different WS systems to choose from and a complete line of Lewatit Monoplus resins, Bayer's complete offering provides effective solutions to meet the needs of any application."
